Logistics Assistance Dispatched to Fire Victims in Semper Timur

The North Jakarta Social Sub-agency, together with Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) and Jakarta North Branch Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), quickly distributed aid to the fire survivors in Jalan Cakung Drainase, Kampung Sawah, RT 05/11, Semper Timur Urban Village, Cilincing Sub-district.

No casualties or fatalities in the incident and the losses are estimated to reach Rp 1.47 billion

North Jakarta Social Sub-agency Head, Rizqon Hermawan said, the aid distributed includes 20 packs of biscuits, 56 blankets, four towels, four mukena sets, 50 sets of clothing, and 50 foldable mattresses.

Then, 50 pairs of sandals, three packs of Pampers, five pieces of kids' wear, six pieces of women's underwear, 43 napkins, 38 bottles of shampoo and baby soap, 15 mops, as well as 20 jute and stick brooms.

"Last night and this morning, we also distributed 100 boxes of ready-to-eat food and mineral water to the evacuation post, he expressed, Monday (9/22).

He explained that ready-to-eat food and bottled water will be distributed three times a day during the three days of disaster response.

"If still needed, we are ready to give more the following three days," he explained.

North Jakarta and Seribu Islands Fire and Rescue Sub-agency (Gulkarmat)'s Operation Section Head, Gatot Sulaeman explained, they received a fire report from residents via phone around 7:40 PM on Sunday (9/21) night.

"We deployed 10 and 50 firefighters to the scene," he explained.

They successfully localized the flames 30 minutes after the incident and continued the cooling process.

"The handling at the scene was completed around 9:13 PM or approximately one hour after the incident," he explained.

He added that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit from one of the vacant houses left by its owner. Unfortunately, one person was injured by burns.

"No casualties or fatalities in the incident and the losses are estimated to reach Rp 1.47 billion," he added.

Semper Timur Urbab Village Head, Tien Septimar expressed his gratitude to all parties involved who have acted quickly to assist with the fire incident in their area. Then, 15 houses inhabited by 60 people were burned.

"Since last night, the survivors have temporarily taken refuge at Al Furqon Mosque near the fire site, but some have also sought refuge at relatives' homes. Until now, we are still conducting a detailed record of the fire survivors," he closed.
